You’re report got me interested in the pier, so I visited their website and I have to say you’re photos are better than the ones they have! The length and width is quite impressive i was amzed to find out it has an area of 6.5 acres! It seems everyting is located at the front of the pier with nothing towards the back, do you think they could make better use of the space by spreading the attractions out, or adding more?

It seems everyting is located at the front of the pier with nothing towards the back, do you think they could make better use of the space by spreading the attractions out, or adding more? I think the spacing is fine, but they could add more. I can't help seeing the Pier as four segments: Section 1 - Undercover amusement park Section 2 - Outdoor amusement park Section 3 - thin walkway to... Section 4 - Lifeboat, fishing and Jolly Roger The fishing is popular, so I think that section is fine. The Jolly Roger building could certainly have more in it than it does (you can only go in the cafe at the edge). I think that's the main way they could improve that section. The main area for improvement is Section 2. This used to have the huge Steel Stella side-friction coaster! (And the Whirlwind later.) I'd love to see a couple of coasters, because the Pier does deserve to be up there with Brighton. The Pier was expanded to what it is in the 1930s, I think, by a great entrepeneur. If we could get the Pier back to the level and variety of entertainment on it back then... Believe it or not, there was a pool to the left of the pier with a killer whale and dolphins in it!

wow a killer whale! they wouldn't be allowed that nowadays, i'd personally be worried of it leaping out of it's pool into the sea in a "free willy" style escape!
there used to be dolphins in Scarborough actually, at what became Marvels park, when the dolphins and other sea creatures moved out, some of the pools were converted to tar pits and swamps and model dinosaurs were installed in the empty enclosures
i haven’t been to Marvels in years actually, i know it was closed to make way for a redevelopment, including a cinema, but i don’t believe anything has happened, as a child i was terrified of riding the chairlift that went from the cliff top at Marvels down to where the Sea Life Centre is, but was always fascinated by it and actually wanted to ride it someday, guess i'll never be able to overcome one of my childhood fears now!
