The Demon coaster from the now defunct Aussie theme park Wonderland Sydney is to set on a voyage across the seas to it's new home in America!
The Vekoma Boomerang roller coaster was originally built for the Brisbane World Expo in 1988, is now heading for the Visionland Amusement Park in Bessemer, Alabama, which involves a voyage across the Pacific, through the Panama Canal and on to New Orleans, followed by a trip aboard a convoy of trucks to its new site.
Assembly is expected to begin in February and Visionland has set a projected opening date of 30 April 2005. A special contest to choose a name for it will also be held in February.
Seems a lot of effort just to get a Vekoma Boomerang to the park! Surely including one of the 2 remaining wooden coasters or intamin drop tower or any of the other flats at the Aussie park would make the trip more worth while?
