The people from urf maybe of heard (or sick of) me going on about the time I went for a Customer Care presentation at Drayton Manor with my university class. I was recently sorting out my old notes and found the notes I made at Drayton Manor together with a few photocopied sheets, including their mission statement as follows,
DRAYTON MANOR PARK LIMITED MISSION STATEMENT
OUR MISSION IS “To remain the best value for money family theme park and to continue to provide a safe fun day out with something to appeal to all age groups.”
OUR PRINCIPLES ARE AS FOLLOWS
Customer service. We recognise that the customer is a fundamental element of our business and must be offered our best service.
Value for money. We endeavour to understand our customers requirements and provide them with a good value for money, family day out.
Staff. We adopt an integrated management team approach with problem solving and decision making being effected quickly to staff who interact with customers. To achieve this we recognise the benefit derived from investing in people through training and development to constantly improve efficiency, productivity, quality and satisfaction in employment through a mutual recognition of each others motivations and goals.

Brilliant, what a very honest and great outlook for a company to have about itself, the staff part gets a little lost and really talks about the management / operational style, but I guess that is part of the “staff” as they aren’t robots!
It’s great to see that they realise why the company is there, because of their customers and it shows that they truly value their customer and centre how the company is run around them. The Alton Towers equivalent takes 5 long pages of fluff and jargon to say mostly the same things and also please their share holders, (sorry I can’t be arsed to type the Alton one, believe me it’s too long) it just shows how complicated Alton’s operation is, if they stripped things back and were as simple and honest as Drayton Manor, they could be a lot more flexible and quicker to respond to customers, maybe even satisfy them more!

Yep, their mission statement is short and to the point, clear and easy to understand. I hope they do stick to their missions though, trouble is that sometimes things can look or sound good on paper but don't translate into reality. I must admit that when I visited earlier this year, the park and it's staff appeared to have high standards, I had nothing to complain about!!
