Nightmare Niagara log fume at the American Adventure park could sadly be dismantled this week, according to eParkGuides A neglect of maintenance meant that the ride was unable to operate this season as it was deemed structurally unsafe, it now though that the ride will be dismantled this week and scrapped The log flume was built by Interlink Lg and first opened as Cherokee Falls in 1987 with two drops, the third and infamous 40m drop was added, when the ride was extended and re-themed as Nightmare Niagara in 1994. It's a sad loss for American Adventure and i suspect will be quite damaging, as it was one of the best known rides the park had.

Do you believe the log flume was a key part of the park's survival?
Will a replacement log flume or alternative water ride be installed?

Daft decision!
Having just been on Logger's Leap, I realise there's nothing quite like a log flume. From their thunderous pacing, to their perfect seating and not-too-wet splash.
Since American Adventure is not closing, I think they should fork out the money to rebuild Nightmare Niagara. They want to be a family park, yet large non-looping rides like this are the best thrill rides a family park can hope to achieve! The rapids and log flume should be complemented with a wooden coaster; then you'd have the perfect family park.
They might be removing the Missile. Well, they should remove Twin Looper as well, as neither are as important as Nightmare Niagara.
EDIT - Was it really 40m?!! Could it be that it was too high for a log flume? An alternative would be to restore the original 2-drop log flume, and possibly build a Mack water coaster or something on the site of the 3rd drop.

40m!
The perils of copy and paste! The drop was around 60ft, so just about 18m, i think it was in the excitement of the ride going i didn't check!
I can’t understand why it has been quoted as “structurally unsafe” as the mine train is still running through the same fibreglass fronted buildings as the first part of the log flume, surely if all the ride was unsafe the mine train wouldn’t be allow to operate!
So as the mine coaster is still in operation, is it a case of the 3rd drop is the unsafe part?
This season the park has purchased a Zamperla rocking tug and fire brigade kiddie flats, I can’t understand why they decided this was a better option to invest in than repairing the log flume
The log flume is a major ride, it helps to make the American Adventure’s experience different to other parks, rocking tugs are becoming two-a-penny at present
I don’t think the parks decision to become focused on families with young children is a good one, nor a well thought out, and I would say is a knee-jerk reaction to three of the major rides requiring an overhaul at once
Close by there are the Gulliver’s parks, Sundown Adventureland and I would say Alton Towers does cater well for younger children, and has the advantage of offering rides for older children too (as families don’t come in neat little groups)
It would have made more sense for the park to stay as it was, a balanced park with something to offer all members of the family at a reasonable and affordable rate, it just needed better promotion efforts to let people know the park was there, and persuade them to make a visit, which the large scale log flume, rapids, missile were more than capable of doing
